BGF YOUTH CONNECTION
BGF Youth Connection (BGFYC) is the youth arm of Buddhist Gem Fellowship (BGF), formed to meet the secular and spiritual needs of Buddhist youth through modern contemporary approaches. We aim to establish a platform for youth to acquire, relate and apply practical Dhamma in real life. BGFYC caters mainly for the age group between 18-30 years old.
What are the activities of BGFYC?
BGFYC offers several contemporary activities like the Youth Connection Session (YCS), competency enhancing workshops and various outbound activities throughout the year. BGFYC incorporates the RAFF concept which defines Relationship, Activity, Food & Fun in its activities and gatherings.
Youth Connection Session? What is it?
Youth Connection Session (YCS) is the core activity of BGFYC which will be conducted on selected Sundays in a month. The concept of YCS is to create a point where participants are able connect and relate their daily experience to Buddhist practice, via sharing of experiences and lots of questioning. Dhamma Dynamics and simple terminologies will be used by learned speakers to ensure easy understanding by all levels of participants. The topics covered by YCS on a quarterly basis include Four Noble Truths, Five Precepts, Karma and Mental Cultivation. Besides learning, there will also be fellowship interaction, tea breaks and sing-alongs during the YCS for participants to have fun and be inspired.
Who then, is INCOVAR?
INCOVAR stands for Inter College and Varsity, and serves as an activity platform specifically engineered for Buddhist undergraduates (college and university students) aged between 18 and 25 years. INCOVAR strives to connect the bridge between BGF and Buddhist Youth in the country through their own unique and experiential activities. Members of the family are called INCOVARIANS.
The main activity organized by INCOVAR is the INCOVAR Dhamma Camp (IDC). It is a Dhamma based stay-in camp, usually of 4 days duration, that combines Dhamma talks, experiential workshops and games, devotional and inspirational practices, modern Buddhist music, and strong fellowship bonding. To date, there have been 36 IDCs successfully organised.
In April 2007, INCOVAR decided to revive the INCOVAR Graduate Camp (IGC) by organising the 2nd IGC. The main focus of this camp, as opposed to the IDC, is to equip final year undergraduates, recent graduates, or those who have recently joined the workforce, with the essential soft skills; these include: career goal setting, resume writing, interview skills and professional grooming. As a value add to the participants of the IGC, elements incorporating Buddhist teachings into the corporate environment are also included as part of the camp. To date, several notable key Dharma speakers and corporate profiles have appeared in the IGC, such as Dato' Wei Chuan Beng, Bro. Tan Huat Chye, Bro. Charlie Chia, Bro. Tan Ho Soon, and many more.
List of camps and workshops organised by INCOVAR includes:
INCOVAR Dhamma Camp
INCOVAR Management Camp
INCOVAR Graduate Camp
INCOVAR Induction Camp
INCOVAR Programmers Creativity and Innovation Camp
INCOVAR Creativity Workshop
INCOVAR Facilitator Training Workshop
