About Bhante Dr. Dhammapala

Bhante Dr. Dhammapala was born in Kuching in 1970 and was ordained in 1994 in Kedah under the Chao Khun Phra Raj Thammathara, then Chief Siamese Sanghanayaka in Malaysia. He then studied under Bhante Dhammasakaro Mahathero. He later spent 15 years studying Buddhist Philosophy, Pali and Sanskrit literatures in Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. In 2009, he obtained his Doctorate of Philosophy in Buddhist Studies under the supervision of Professor Ven KL Dhammajoti, in the University of Hong Kong.

In 2010-13, he was the Visiting Professor of the Centre of Buddhist Studies, the University of Hong Kong. He travelled frequently conducting meditation retreats, dhamma talks amd teaching in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.

During the recent MCO, Bhante has been actively sharing online via Facebook Live.
