Ven Bhikkhu Assaji from the UK was ordained at the Bhikkhu Training Centre in Sri Lanka in 1964 and received his Higher Ordination from Ven Madhihe Pannaseeha Maha Nayaka Thera as his teacher.
In 1976 he completed his monastic education and achieved the Panditha Degree. He was a Sanskrit teacher at the International Buddhist Centre at Subodharmaya, Peradeniya, Kandy, Sri Lanka before moving to England in 1992 and living at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery. He now lives on his own, travelling to many countries as a missionary monk.
